Hello Band Families!
Hope you are all staying warm and safe as we navigate this extreme weather!
Below is a longer newsletter to go over some important information/updates for the bands!
Band Auditions
All students grades 9-11th grade will be auditioned into one of our three concert bands. Due to the snow days/weather, audition dates have been moved back one week to the following dates:
Wind Ensemble: 1/31/2025
Symphonic Band: 2/6/2025
Please feel free to contact a director with any questions regarding auditions!
Solo & Ensemble
District Solo & Ensemble is at Battle Creek Lakeview High School this year on February 1st. Below you will find the schedule of performers, and information regarding the event. Students performing a Solo, please be sure you are coordinating with your accompanist, there is a list of accompanists we recommend in the Private Lesson list!
Ireland 2026
We are excited to announce that our music department will be traveling to Ireland in June 2026! More information will be available at our FULL PROGRAM MEETING regarding the Trip on February 4th @ 7pm in the NHS Auditorium.
Mattress Fundraiser
Our 8th annual mattress fundraiser will be held on March 8th, from 10am-4pm. See the flyer below, and share the event link with your friends on Facebook!
Pre-Festival/Band Festival
The next performances for our NHS Bands will be our Pre-Festival & Festival Concerts. Pre-Festival will be February 19th, and will also feature our Indoor Percussion Ensemble (PNIPE).
Band Festival will be held at Mattawan HS on March 7th. Below are the times for each ensemble
Wind Ensemble: 6:30pm
Symphonic Band: 3:00pm
Concert Band: 4:50pm
Details regarding departure times will be shared shortly!
Blue Lake
As long as we have school on Friday (fingers crossed!), Sandra Shaw from Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp will be visiting to allow students to audition!
Band/Orchestra students will perform a scale, and an excerpt of music concert and/or solo & ensemble music! These will be conducted during class, so no extra work for the students!
