Hello Band Families!
Hope you all had a great snow-day, and students, congrats on making it through finals week! Now that Semester 2 is here, and we are halfway through the school year, we have many exciting updates/events coming up for the Northern Bands!

THIS WEEK IN BAND:
Wednesday, 1/21
Jazz Band Rehearsal, 2:50-4:30 pm
Portage Northern Band Booster Meeting, 7 pm
Thursday & Friday, 1/22 & 1/23
Mr. Mufarreh will be out of school these days due to the Michigan Music Conference!
PNIPE, 6-9 pm, Thursday 1/22
Saturday, 1/24
MSBOA All-State Band Performance, 8 am, DeVos Hall
Carmen Briggs will be performing with the All-State Band!
MSOBA District Solo & Ensemble
Solo & Ensemble will be held at Battle Creek Lakeview HS on Saturday, February 7th. Students & families, please take a close look at the links below for all the details about the event!

Spin-Club/Winter Guard
We will be starting our Spin Club/Winter Guard to help our current members continue refining their skills, and for anyone who wants to learn about colorguard!
This is open to ALL Portage Students, grades 8-12. There is NO cost, the only commitment is your time! See the schedule below: all rehearsals will start in the North Middle Band Room.
Dine & Donate Fundrasier (NY Trip)
To help raise funds for our NY Trip, please consider coming to Red Robin on Thursday, January 28th. This is an ALL-day fundraiser!

Super Bowl Sqares Fundraiser (NY Trip)

Pre-Festival Concert
Our Pre-Festival Concert is scheduled for February 25th, 2026, at 7 pm. This is a chance for our students to perform their Band Festival pieces for a panel of guests, receive feedback, and continue to improve their performance ahead of the MSBOA District Band Festival! Our Indoor Percussion group will also be performing part of their 2026 show, Perihelion!

Mattress Fundraiser - Save the Date!
The 9th Annual PN Bands Mattress Fundraiser is scheduled for March 7th, 2026, in the Lower Commons at PNHS. Please save the date, and share THIS flyer with your friends and family!
